In recognition of cultural and social equality and signifying the brotherhood between Southern Sinhalese and Northern Tamils, a group of young people launched a "Sama Pada Yathra" (Peace March) from Point Dondra to Point Pedro (PPD) with blessings of Hon. Parliamentarian for Hambantota District Mr. Namal Rajapakse, founder of "Tharunnyata Hetak" youth movement.
