The Indian Government has taken steps to develop the Alfred Duraiappah Stadium in Jaffna and raise it to the standard of an International Sports Stadium.
Along with the renovations, a Cultural Hall will also be built with modern facilities said the Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, Ashok K. Kantha, while addressing a function at the Jaffna Municipality Office to hand over buses given by the Indo Ceylon Friendship Association to three institutions in Jaffna. Y. Patkunarajah the Mayoress of Jaffna also graced the occasion.
