Sea transport network between India and Sri Lanka will be streamlined. During the meeting between President Mahinda Rajapakse and Indian Navy Commander Admiral Nirmal Varma special attention was made on modernizing the Kankesanthurai Port, and on commencing board services between Thalai Mannar and Rameswaram as well as between Colombo Fort and Tuticorn. Mr. Varma also met Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne and talks between them focused on expansion of sea transport between the two countries.

COLOMBO: India's chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Nirmal Verma arrived here today on a six-day visit to Sri Lanka during which he will meet president Mahind Rajapaksa and other top political leaders and military officials.
