He has also embarked on ambitious plans to transform the nation's economy following the end of a quarter-century civil war in May 2009.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said that he would abrogate two agreements, the so called Cease Fire Agreement (CFA) signed between Velupillai Prabhakaran and Ranil Wickremesinhe in Febuary 2002 and the treacherous agreement allegedly signed by R. Sambanthan and General Sarath Fonseka last week on January 27.
