The government delegation led by Minister of Mass Media and Information Keheliya Rambukwella and secretary to the ministry W.B.Ganegala who are in Jaffna to take part in the Asi Disi Media Forum visited the Udayan Newspaper office this morning. They engaged in a friendly discussion with the news editor of the newspaper Gnanasundaram Kuganathan and the staff. Speaking at the occasion Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said the government is continuously carrying out investigations with regard to the assault made to the news editor of the Udayan Newspaper. He pointed out that several suspects have been arrested as well. Speaking further the minister emphasized the government is dedicated to safeguard media freedom. He also noted that media has been entrusted with the responsibility of creating friendship between north and south with the elimination of the tiger terrorism. Jaffna district parliamentarian of Tamil National Alliance E.Sarawanabawan, Director of Government Information Wasantha Priya Ramanayake and Editor of Thinakaran Newspaper S.Thillainathan were also present at this occasion.
