The Sri Lankan government has said that over 2,500 people went missing during the war against Tamil rebels (LTTE) in the north of the country. An analytical report on the final three years of the war, published by Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Monday, says 2,564 people, including 676 children, were listed as missing.

The United States has called upon Sri Lanka's Mahinda Rajapakse government to investigate alleged war crimes committed by its troops during the final few months of Sri Lanka's 25-year long war against Tamil Tiger rebels(LTTE), reports said.

(RTTNews) - Lakshman Nipunaarachchi, a member of the opposition Democratic National Alliance (DNA) will replace Sri Lanka's former army chief, General Sarath Fonseka (Retd.) in parliament, after the latter was recently indicted by a military court for corruption in defense deals and a consequent 30-month rigorous imprisonment that was approved by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
