Many Sri Lankans can often be heard blaming their country’s ills on others – Norwegian negotiators [38], Indian politicians, Tamil terrorists, British colonialists. But when one day they wake to find they are ruled by a dictator they cannot get rid of, they will have no-one to blame but themselves.
