Lanka Solidarity Fundraiser for IDPs

Right now in Sri Lanka more than 250,000 people are living in refugee camps without adequate water or sanitation infrastructure or sufficient food. Few international organizations are able to deliver assistance to these people due to government restrictions. Because of this, even USAID and the UN are having a hard time providing basic assistance.

Fortunately, there are a couple of local organizations that are involved with helping people in the camps. Unfortunately, these organizations don't have sufficient resources to meet the enormous needs that are out there right now. This is where we can come in and help. Next Tuesday you can make a difference.

Lanka Solidarity will be launching their first event in DC by hosting a fundraiser for two independent, multi-ethnic local charities in Sri Lanka. See this article for more information on the camps. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/8293982.stm

Come out and bring your friends! There will be food, drink specials, and a raffle! Suggested donation at the door of $20.
